Picture Your Place
In order to engage different cross sections of the community and encourage participating from individuals early in the update process, City staff approached the City's Youth Commission, Family Enrichment Program, Senior Commission and the school districts, as well as other community groups, to solicit their participation in a photo project. A photo study of Encinitas is an innovative way to get people involved and it gives residents the opportunity to records, reflect and critique personal and community issues in the City.
Each participant was provided a packet containing a disposable camera, notepad and padded envelop. The assignment was simple -- explore your outside world and take photos of important places and things. After the images were developed, each group hosted an event to assemble their group's picture boards.
Collected images and picture boards were on display City Hall in February 2010 and throughout the visioning process. Please note that the photo exercise is an on-going assignment and collected photos will be utilized throughout the update. If you are interested in participating please review the photo study instructions and submit a signed release form to Encinitas staff with your photos.
