Vision Festival

City residents and community members were invited to attend a Goal Setting Workshop and General Plan Vision Festival on Saturday, May 1st from 9am to 1pm at the Senior and Community Center (1140 Oakcrest Park Drive). The Festival featured games, prizes and giveaways, 24 exhibits or booths from community and service providers and free refreshments from Noodles & Company and Smart & Final. Another fun aspect of Festival was the Coffee House where attendees could “taste” their favorite coffee blends from Pannikin, Starbucks, E Street Cafe, Java Hut, It’s a Grind, and Einstein Brothers Bagels.

The workshop portion of the Festival started at 10am.  Workshop attendees were asked to sign in and were given a workshop packet consisting of an agenda, discussion handout and community character preference survey.  The opening presentation provided an introduction to General Plan Update process; an overview of existing conditions and input received during the first round of workshops; and direction on how to complete the community character preference survey.  After the presentation and community character preference slideshow, workshop attendees visited  work stations and had an opportunity to speak one-on-one with staff members, examine display maps and discuss the visioning statements.
