Comment Board User Guidelines

All comments on the Comprehensive General Plan Update (CGPU) are welcomed. We all want the CGPU blog to be informative, relevant, and fun. In addition to reviewing the City of Encinitas Policy on Use of Social Media, please consider the following information.
  • Your comments will be read. 
  • Comments will be reviewed for compliance with these guidelines before posting and publishing. 
  • Comments should stay on topic and/or relate to the subject matter of the issue or topic.
  • Self-serving or flagrant promotion of goods, sites or services will not be posted. 
  • Be respectful of others. Offensive language, personal attacks or discrimination (hostile or deliberately insulting comments toward a specific individual or group on the basis of race, creed, color, age, religion, gender, marital status, status with regard to public assistance, national origin, physical or mental disability, sexual orientation) will not be posted. 
  • Comments may not be posted if determined to be in violation of local, State or federal laws; it violates legal ownership interest of any other party; or found to be compromising the safety or security of the public or public systems.

  • Please protect your privacy and carefully consider posting personally identifying information as your comments will be visible to the public. 
This is considered a “general audience” web site and does not collect personal information; however, users should be aware of the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. To avoid confusion, children under the age of 13 should have signed written permission from a parent or guardian to post comments or participate in a discussion. 
 
If a comment or portion thereof does not follow these guidelines or those listed by City policy, the entire comment will be removed or not posted. All comments posted or not, will become a part of the public records for the CGPU. Comments on blogs do not constitute legal or official notice or comment to the City of Encinitas or any of its officials or employees for any purpose. Readers who wish to request public records must submit a public records request. 
 
These policies are subject to amendment or modification at any time to ensure its use is consistent with its intended purpose as a limited forum.
